About the Event
All are invited to join Zephyr for this evening salon exploring how to assess the influential philosophical and social movement known as Effective Altruism.
We all want to do good. Some smart people, inspired by Peter Singer, set out to use the tools of rationality to discover how to do good best. The story of Effective Altruism shows the promise and dangers of this approach. Before calculating what to do, it's important to think first about why we want to do good—and to be honest about that, with others and especially with ourselves. Heroes get it wrong.
Dinner will be provided to all event attendees.
